Dear mom,
Yesterday we were talking about what you did with my biological father in the years before I was born and I kind of lost my temper at you. I'm really sorry about it. It’s just that, probably it’s hard for you to think of, but what you did at that particular moment in your life has determined my birth and affect my life ever since. The things you did back then is linked to my racial identities because no matter how daddy has cared for and loved me in these years, biologically, I'm the daughter of a black man. This has made me identify myself as being black because I was born with that skin color and I literally had no choice. I really thank you for having respected my choice of being a black woman, and no matter I'm black or white or Jewish, I'll always be your daughter.
Yours,
Laecey
