letter to Lacey's father

Dear father,

For one of the few things I’ve never doubted in my life is that I respect you and I love you. You are always my father, but this fact seem to be accepted by you in a reluctant way lately. One reason of the attitude is your outrage towards mum’s betrayal, which I definitely understand and feel angry myself as well. Her action had rendered me nothing but years of confusion of my identity, my constant feeling of loneliness, and ultimately the break of a family. Yet the other factor, which we both know what it is, perhaps plays a more important role in your increasing indifference. Father, I am Lacey, but this identity you’re familiar with fails to define a crucial part of who I truly am. For all these years of lost and seeking, I finally find back that part, which surprisingly makes me feel prouder than ever. Therefore, father, I hope you could embrace my identity, and even share the joy with me. The difference of our skin colour will not wash away our bond, will it?Nonetheless, no matter how you decide, you are still my dearest father, my only father.

Love,
Lacey
